If Not Now, When? (April 2023)
I didn't intend that these posts become quarterly updates, but that is just the way things have evolved. For the record, symptoms seem to be a bit worse (mainly around stiffness first thing in the morning) but still not yet taking the meds - on the basis that the symptoms aren't yet stopping me doing stuff. If anything the stiffness (which I can currently walk off with a couple of laps of the park) is acting as an encouragement to get on with doing stuff that I fear will be come tougher later on - and whenever I find myself putting off doing something I try asking myself "If Not Now, When?"
I have plans for some long distance paths - did at one time come up with the idea of walk from Bedford to Tain (600 miles, if you're counting), and really if I'm going to do that I should be starting. I reckon it might take 40 days (and no, I'm not trying to do it all at once).
I did finally get round to completing the Thames Path - and I guess the B to T walk is just a grown up version of that.
But first a few weeks in the Italian Lakes - bags are mostly packed - wine, pasta and walking for a week then a couple of weeks Parkinson's Therapy at Boario, followed by a few days to recover. This is the first post-Brexit international travel, and it's all by train (except when it's by bus!).
And what do razorbills have to do with Parkinson's? Nothing (AFAIK), but they are just the coolest auks, and I think we all aspire to be cool.
